Decides that the multi-year programme of work of the Commission on the Status of Women for the seventieth, seventy-first, seventy-second and seventy-third sessions will be as follows:

Seventieth session (2026):

Priority theme: Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices, and addressing structural barriers;

Review theme: Women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls (agreed conclusions from the sixty-fifth session);

Seventy-first session (2027):
i
Priority theme: Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;
ii
Review theme: Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes (agreed conclusions from the sixty-sixth session);

Seventy-second session (2028):
i
Priority theme: Recognizing and strengthening care and support systems to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls;
ii
Review theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls (agreed conclusions from the sixty-seventh session);

Seventy-third session (2029):
i
Priority theme: Women and girls in humanitarian emergencies: advancing women’s participation and leadership, and achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in this context;
ii
Review theme: Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective (agreed conclusions from the sixty-eighth session);

Requeststhe Commission to consider and make a recommendation at its seventy-first session, in 2027, on how best to utilize the year 2030, on the occasion of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, so as to accelerate the realization of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls and the full realization of their human rights;

Affirms that the Commission will contribute to the thematic reviews of progress on the Sustainable Development Goals taking place at the high-level political forum on sustainable development;

Recalls paragraph 67 of General Assembly resolution 79/147 of 17 December 2024, and invites the Commission to consider placing the issue of achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all older women as a focus area of its seventieth session;
B.Methods of work of the Commission on the Status of Women

Recalls that, at its seventy-first session, in 2027, the Commission should review, as appropriate, its methods of work, adopted by the Economic and Social Council in its resolution 2022/4, taking into consideration the outcome of the process of alignment of the agendas of the General Assembly and the Council and its subsidiary bodies, with a view to further enhancing the impact of the work of the Commission;

Requeststhe Secretary-General to submit to the Commission at its seventy-first session a report on ways and means to further enhance the impact of the work of the Commission, including by taking into consideration the outcome of the forthcoming inclusive intergovernmental process with the participation of all Member States to explore options to revitalize the Commission upon its completion, under the auspices of the President of the Economic and Social Council, in the context of the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.
