Takes note with interest of the consensus reached at the consultations on the conversion of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization into a specialized agency that were held at Vienna prior to and in April and May 1984;

Endorses the contents of the report of the Secretary­ General on the conversion of the United Nations Indus­ trial Development Organization into a specialized agency207 and calls upon all countries to abide by the out­ come of the consultations as set out in that report;

Expresses its confidence that the new organization will honour the contents of the report of the Secretary­ General;

Calls upon those States that have not yet done so to ratify the Constitution of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization without further delay;

Decides that adequate resources should be provided in the regular budget of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization for the biennium 1984-1985
to ensure the provision of the necessary funds, in accord­ ance with paragraph 7 of General Assembly resolution 34/ 96 of 13 December 1979, for the first General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organiza­ tion, to be held in two parts for a total duration of no more than thirteen days, and other costs associated with the con­ version of the organization into a specialized agency;

Decides further that. in anticipation of the speedy conversion of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization into a specialized agency, the Secretary­ General should adjust the calendar of conferences and meetings of the United Nations for the biennium 1984- 1985208 so that only one session of the Industrial Develop­ ment Board will be held in 1985;

Requests the Secretary-General to continue his efforts, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 38/193, for the immediate conversion of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization into a spe­ cialized agency.
