Notes with appreciation the report of the Joint Inspection Unit;

Welcomes the intention of the Joint Inspection Unit to undertake an assessment of its own work, including meth­ ods of increasing the effectiveness of its recommendations, and to make proposals for improving the process whereby the intergovernmental organs take decisions on those recommendations;

Reiterates the request made in paragraph 7 of its resolution 2924 B (XXVII) of 24 November 1972 and the decision contained in the operative part of its resolution 32/ 199 of 21 December 1977;

Requests the Secretary-General, when submitting comments on reports of the Joint Inspection Unit, to include summaries indicating which recommendations of the Unit should or should not be implemented, in accordance with General Assembly decision 36/454 of 18 December 1981.
