Aware ofthe enormous difficulties in the evacuation by air of cases of special humanitarian concem,

Deeply disturbed by the situation which now prevails in Sarajevo and by many reports and indications of deteriorating conditions throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina,

Commending the determination and courage of ali those who are participating in the humanitarian effort,

Deploring the continuation of the fighting in Bosnia and Herzegovina which is rendering difficult the provision of humanitarian assistance in Sarajevo and its environs, as well as in other areas of the Republic,

Noting that the reopening of Sarajevo airport for humanitarian purposes constitutes a first step in establishing a security zone encompassing Sarajevo and its airport,

Recalling the obligations under intemational humanitarian law, in particular the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949,6.1

Stressing once again the imperative need to find an urgent negotiated political solution for the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina,

Approves the further report of the Secretary-General of 10 July 199264 on the implementation of Security Council resolutions 757 (1992), 758 (1992) and 761 (1992);

Authorizes the Secretary-General to deploy immediately additional elements ofthe United Nations Protection Force to ensure the security and functioning of Sarajevo airport and the delivery of humanitarian assistance, in accordance with paragraph 12 of bis report;

Reiterates its call on ali parties and others concemed to comply fully with the agreement of 5 June 1992ro and to cease immediately any hostile military activity in Bosnia and Herzegovina;

Commends the untiring efforts and the bravery of the Force for its role in securing humanitarian relief in Sarajevo and its environs;

Demands that ali parties and others concemed cooperate fully with the Force and intemational humanitarian agencies to facilitate the evacuation by air of cases of special humanitarian concem;

Calls on ali parties and others concemed to cooperate with the Force and intemational humanitarian agencies to facilitate the provision of humanitarian aid to other areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina which remain in desperate need of assistance;

Reiterates its demand that ali parties and others concemed take the necessary measures to secure the safety of Force personnel;

Calls again on ali parties conccrncd to rcsolve their differences through a negotiatcd political solution to the problems in the region and to that end to coopcrate with the renewed efforts of the European Community and its memhcr States, with the support of thc States partic1pating in thc Conference on Security and Cooperati(ln in Eurnpe. within the framework ofthe Conference on Yugoslavia. ami in particular to respond positively to the invitation "r thc Chairman (if thc Conference to talks on 15 July 1992;

Requests the Secretary-Gcncral to kccp dosc contad with the developments within thc framcwork ofthc Conferrncc on Yugoslavia and to assist in finding a ncgotiatcd political solution for the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina;

Reaffirms that ali parties are hound to comply with the obligations under intemational humanitarian law and in particular the Geneva Conventions of 12 August J()4()."' and that persons who commit or ordcr thc comnussion of grave breaches of the Conventions are individuallv n:sponsihlc in respect of such breaches;

Requests the Secretary-C',eneral to keep undcr continuous review any further measure that may he rcquircd to cnsurc unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistancc:
