Condemns the Government of Israel for violating Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity and for the forcible diversion and seizure by the Israeli air force of a Lebanese airliner from Lebanon's air space;

Considers 1hat these actions by Israel constitute a violation of the Lebanese-Israeli Armistice Agreement of 1949, the cease-fire resolutions of the Securi,ty Council of 1967, ,the provisions of the Charter of the Uniited Nations, the international conventions on civil aviation and the principles of international law and morality;

Calls on the International Civil Aviation Organization to ,take due ,account of this resolution when
considering adequate measures to safeguard illlternational civil aviation against these actions;

Decisions

At .its 1743rd meeting, on 8 October 1973, ,the Council decided to invite ,the representatives of Egypt, Israel and the Syrian Arab Republic to participate, without vote, in ,the discussion of the item entitled "The situation in the Middle Eas,t: Letter dated 7 October 1973 from the Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations addressed to the P,resident of the Security Council ( S/ 11O10) ". 26
At its 1745th meeting, on 11 October 1973, the Council decided to invite the representatives of Nigeria and Saudi Arabia to participate, without vote, in the discussion of the item.

Resolution 338 (1973)

Calls upon all parties to the present fighting to cease all firing and terminate all military activity immediately, no laiter than 12 hours after the moment of the adoption of this decision, in the positions they now occupy;

Calls upon the parties concerned ,to start immediately after the cease-fire the implementaition of Security Council resolution 242 ( 1967) in all of its parts;
3
Decides that, immediately and concurrently with the cease-fire, negotiations shall start between the parties concerned under appropriate auspices aimed at establishing a just and drnable peace in the Middle East.
