Reminds the Government of the N~therlands and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia of its resolution 27 (1947) of 1 August 1947 concerning the cease-fire order and peaceful settlement of their dispute;

Calls upon the Government of the Netherlands and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to adhere strictly to the recommendation of the Security Council of 1 August 194 7.

Adopted at the 194th meeting by 8 votes to none,

with 3 abstentions (Poland,

Syria, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).

Subsequently, the Committee of Good Offices was set up with the following membership : AUSTRALIA (selected by the Republic of Indonesia), BELGIUM (selected by the Netherlands) and the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (designated by Australia and Belgium).
