At its 41st plenary meeting, on 23 July 2008, the Economic and Social Council:
(a) Took note of the report of the Ninth United Nations Conference on the Standardization of Geographical Names, held in New York from 21 to 30 August 2007;53
(b) Endorsed the recommendation that the Tenth United Nations Conference on the Standardization of Geographical Names be convened in 2012;54
(c) Also endorsed the recommendation that the twenty-fifth session of the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names be convened in the first half of 2009.54
