Welcomes the holding of the first and second sessions of the Preparatory Commission for the Entry into Force of the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction and the Convening of the First Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Agreement from 14 to 25 April and from 18 to 29 August 2025, respectively, and recalls that a third session will be convened from 23 March to 2 April 2026;

Takes note of the statements by the Co-Chairs of the Preparatory Commission at the closing of the first and second sessions of the Commission;

Welcomes the upcoming entry into force of the Agreement on 17 January 2026;

Emphasizes the importance of the effective implementation of the Agreement;

Invites Member States, international financial institutions, donor agencies, intergovernmental organizations, non‑governmental organizations and natural and juridical persons to make financial contributions to the voluntary trust fund, and expresses its appreciation to those that have contributed;

Notes with appreciation the capacity-building and technical assistance activities of States, regional economic integration organizations, the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea of the Office of Legal Affairs of the Secretariat, and other relevant United Nations entities and intergovernmental organizations within their respective mandates, in relation to the Agreement, taking note also of the contributions of other relevant stakeholders in this regard, and encourages the further undertaking of such activities;
