Welcomes all confidence-building measures in the field of conventional arms already undertaken by Member States;

Encourages Member States to continue to adopt and apply confidence-building measures in the field of conventional arms;

Invites Member States to submit to the Secretariat, on a voluntary basis, information on confidence-building measures in the field of conventional arms;

Encourages Member States to establish or continue dialogues on confidence-building measures in the field of conventional arms;

Appreciates the continuing operation of the Secretariat database containing information provided by Member States,² and requests the Secretary-General to keep the database updated and to assist Member States, at their request, in confidence-building activities and in the organization of seminars, courses and workshops aimed at enhancing the knowledge of new developments in this field;

Recalls the adoption by the Disarmament Commission in April 2017 of recommendations on practical confidence-building measures in the field of conventional weapons;³

Notes that, in those recommendations, Member States are encouraged, as appropriate, and on a voluntary basis, to exchange information on confidence-building measures in the field of conventional weapons at the bilateral, subregional, regional and international levels;

Decides to include in the provisional agenda of its seventy-seventh session, under the item entitled “General and complete disarmament”, the sub-item entitled “Information on confidence-building measures in the field of conventional arms”.
