Takes note of the report of the Secretary-General;1

Endorses the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions,2 subject to the provisions of the present resolution;

Notes with appreciation the continued efforts of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania in facilitating the construction project;

Notes the progress made in the construction of the new premises, and requests the Secretary-General to submit a final report to the General Assembly during its seventy-sixth session;

Recalls paragraphs 10 and 26 of the report of the Advisory Committee, urges the Secretary-General to intensify his efforts to ensure full implementation of the project, including the remaining remediation works on the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system and pending closeout activities, without further delay, within the revised timelines and the total budget of 8,787,733 United States dollars approved for the project, and requests him to report thereon in the context of his final report;

Requests the Secretary-General, in the context of his final report, to include, inter alia, an analysis of updated and comprehensive information on lessons learned and best practices, including areas of contract and project management, as well as knowledge gained during the ongoing implementation of the remaining project activities for application, as appropriate, to other construction projects;

Recalls paragraph 14 of the report of the Advisory Committee, and requests the Secretary-General to continue his efforts to pursue the recovery of the direct and indirect costs arising from errors and delays by contracting partners, namely the architect and the contractor, where economically feasible to do so, and to report thereon in the context of his final report;

Notes with concern the intention of the contractor to contest the deduction in the amount of approximately 230,000 dollars from the final payment, and in this regard encourages the Secretary-General to make every effort to bring this matter to a swift conclusion;

Encourages the Secretary-General to continue his efforts to include local knowledge and capacity in the implementation of the project.
