Takes note with appreciation of the report of the Secretary-General on cooperation between the United Nations and regional and other organizations,1 and acknowledges in particular the development of mutually beneficial interaction between the United Nations and the Collective Security Treaty Organization;

Notes with appreciation the significant practical contribution and efforts of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to strengthen its peacekeeping capacities and the system of regional security and stability, to counter terrorism and transnational organized crime, to combat illicit trafficking in drugs and weapons, and illegal migration and human trafficking, and to recover from natural and man-made disasters, thereby contributing to the attainment of the purposes and principles of the United Nations;

Welcomes the efforts of the secretariats of the United Nations and the Collective Security Treaty Organization to enhance coordination and cooperation in the areas of mutual interest and to develop concrete modalities for such cooperation, and encourages them to continue their collaboration, including the exchange of information;

Invites the Secretary-General of the United Nations to continue regular consultations with the Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, through bilateral contacts and various formats, including consultations between the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the heads of regional organizations;

Invites the United Nations and the Collective Security Treaty Organization to continue their interaction in the interest of the consistent and comprehensive implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy;5

Invites increased cooperation and coordination among the specialized agencies and programmes of the United Nations system and the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the development of their direct contacts in areas of mutual interest;

Encourages both organizations to continue to examine possible ways to further strengthen their interaction in the area of peacekeeping;

Requests the Secretary-General of the United Nations to submit to the General Assembly at its seventy-third session a report on the implementation of the present resolution;
