Congratulates the United Nations Children’s Fund on the occasion of its sixtieth anniversary;

Commends the United Nations Children’s Fund for the substantial assistance it has provided to programme countries in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and other agreed development goals in the interest of children;

Commends the staff of the United Nations Children’s Fund and the National Committees and other partners for their contributions to the substantial achievements of the Fund;

Commends Member States, civil society organizations and the private sector for the generous financial support of the activities of the United Nations Children’s Fund, and invites them to consider increasing their support to the work of the Fund;

Requests the President of the General Assembly to convene, in December 2006, a special commemorative meeting of the Assembly devoted to the sixtieth anniversary of the operations of the United Nations Children’s Fund.
