Takes note with satisfaction of the conclusion, on 25 June 1996, of the Cooperation Agreement between the United Nations and the International Organization for Migration;

Invites the Secretary-General of the United Nations to take the appropriate measures, in consultation with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, to ensure that the needed effective cooperation and liaison between the secretariats of the two organizations is undertaken in order to ensure complementary actions between the two organizations;

Requests the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in consultation with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, to foster systematic consultations on matters of common interest;

Invites the specialized agencies and other organizations, funds and programmes of the United Nations system to cooperate with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, in order to initiate, maintain and increase consultation and programmes with the International Organization for Migration in the attainment of their objectives;
