Also recognizes that the work being done in this context by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and by the Economic Cooperation Organization can provide a basis for further elaboration;

Invitesthe Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, to evaluate the transit system of the newly independent and developing land-locked States in Central Asia and their transit developing country neighbours and to elaborate a programme for improving their transit facilities, and to report to the General Assembly at its forty-ninth session on the implementation of the present resolution.
