Acknowledges with satisfaction the efforts made by the Latin American Economic System to promote cooperation among Latin American and Caribbean countries and consultation on and co-ordination of their positions, as well as to stimulate their economic and social development;

Decides to strengthen and broaden co-operation between the United Nations system and the Latin American Economic System through permanent liaison which will allow for ongoing consultation on matters of common interest, exchange of information between secretariats and increased co-operation, so as to improve the capacity of the two organizations for the attainment of their goals and objectives;

Emphasizes the importance of close co-operation between the United Nations system and the Latín American Economic System for the implementation of the new international economic order in keeping with the relevant resolutions and decisions adopted by the General Assembly and the Latin American Council;

Requests the Secretary-General to take the necessary measures to strengthen and broaden co-operation between the United Nations and the Latín American Economic System;

Urges the specialized agencies and other organizations and programmes of the United Nations system to continue to intensify their co-operation in the activities of the Latin American Economic System;
