Takes note of the report of the Interregional Consul• tation on Developmental Social Welfare Policies and Pm grammes;

Endorses the Guiding Principles for Developmental Social Welfare Policies and Programme~ in the Near Future contained in the report and adopted by consensus at the Interregional Consultation:

Calls upon Governments to make continuous cfforh to implement the principles and recommendations contained in the Guiding Principles adopted hy the Interregional Consultation in accordance with their national structures, needs and objectives:

F11rther requests the Secretary-General to give parltcular attention to increasing the effectiveness of technical co-operation activities to assist Governments, particularly of the developing countries and of the least-developed countries, in formulating appropriate policies and effective programmes in the social welfare field, as indicated in the report of the Interregional Consultation, paying particular attention to the objectives and priorities of national developmental programmes;

Reaffirms the decision of the Economic and Social Council that the Commission for Social Development shall review, at its thirty-first session, the results of the Interregional Consultation;

10 Req11ests the Economic and Social Council to take the n,xessary measures including, as appropriate, further interregional consultations to ensure, on a periodical basis. the reviewing and updating of the developmental social welfare policies and programmes in view of the rapidly changing socio-economic situation and .:onditions;

Requests the Se.:retary-General to report to the lieneral Assembly at its forty-fourth session on the progress achieved in implementing and following up the Guiding Principles for Developmental Social Welfare Policies and Programmes in the Near Future.
