Takes note of the report of the Commission on Human Settlements;
( ·onunends the Commission on Human Settlements on thc cffective manner in which it continues to discharge its mandate in assisting Govemments to address the serious problems of human settlements development, as reflected in the variom substantive recommendations adoptcd by it;

Rca/jirms its conriction that human settlements activities can play a leading role in stimulating national economic and social dcvclopment and in the enhancement of the quality of life of the poor and the disadvantaged, particularly in thc devcloping countries;

Fxpresscs its apprcciation to those Govemments and to others that havc so far provided financia) support for the intemational cffort to promote human settlements development through thc activities of the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (Habitat);

tppeals once aga1n to Member States, particularly the developed countries and others in a position to do so, to make voluntary contributions, ifthey have not yet done so, or, as appropriatc, to increase their voluntary contributions to the United Nations Habitat and Human Settlements Foundation in support of thc activities of the Centre.
