Recommends that the number of industrial development field advisers should be increased in order to enable the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to maintain an effective field presence in the developing countries serviced by its operational programmes;

Requests the Executive Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to submit a report to the Industrial Development Board on ways and means of increasing the effectiveness of the senior industrial development field advisers in programmes of assistance by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to the developing countries;

Further requests the Executive Director to submit to the Secretary-General a review of the status of funding of industrial development field advisers indicating how these advisers should be financed from the regular budget of the United Nations to achieve at the earliest feasible date, the number of industrial development field advisers envisaged in Industrial Development Board decision III (VII);

Recommends that the Secretary-General should submit, on the basis of the review called for in paragraph 3 above, appropriate budgetary estimates to the General Assembly at its thirty-third session.
