Assures the people and the Government of Afghanistan of its deep sympathy in the face of this catastrophe;

InvitesStates Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies and governmental and non-governmental organizations to study all possible ways in which they could provide assistance to Afghanistan and to make generous contributions towards alleviating the severe conditions prevailing in the disaster areas;

Invitesthe Secretary-General to study ways and meaos of providing, on an emergency basis, additional assistance from the United Nations to the Government of Afghanistan and to make this assistance available as soon as possible;

Requeststhe Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, the executive heads of specialized agencies, the Executive Director of the World Food Programme and the Director-General of the United Nations Children's Fund, bearing in mind their available resources, to take into consideration the pressing needs of the Government of Afghanistan in this respect when determining the allocation of their assistance to Member States.
