Reaffirms the inalienable right of the people of Papua and the Trust Territory of New Guinea to selfdetermination and independence in accordance with General Assembly resolution 1514 (XV) and the Trusteeship Agreement of 13 December 1946;

Reaffirms further its previous resolutions regarding Papua and the Trust Territory of New Guinea;

Calls upon the administering Power to take all necessary steps to transfer full powers in the executive and legislative branches of government to elected representatives of the people, in accordance with the freely expressed wishes of the peoples of the Territories;

Requests the administering Power to intensify and accelerate the education and technical and administrative training of the indigenous peoples of the Territories;

Requests the Trusteeship Council to include in its periodic visiting missions to the Trust Territory of New Guinea non-members of the Trusteeship Council, in consultation with the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples and the Administering Authority, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations;

Calls upon the Administering Authority to cooperate fully with the visiting mission and to provide it with all the necessary facilities and assistance in the performance of its tasks;

Requests the Trusteeship Council and the Special Committee to continue to examine this question and to report thereon to the General Assembly at its twenty-fifth session.
