Noting the widespread response to the United Nations Appeal for Children, the large number of countries which have co-operated in the conduct of national campaigns, and the co-operation and support for the Appeal provided by non-governmental organizations,

Recosnizinc that the aftermath of devastation and dislocation resulting from war has rtWealed specific needs of children in many countries, and that a moral responsibility falls on the peoples of all countries to act for the greater well-being of children throughout the world,

Notinc, with approval, the provisions of resolution 162 (VII) adopted by the Economic and Social Council on 12 August 1948,

Continues the United Nations Appeal for Children as a world-wide appeal for voluntary non-governmental contrihuti~ to he used for the benefit of children, adoli!stents, and expeetant and nursing mothers, without discrimination on account of race, religion, nationality or politieaJ belief;

Invites the co-operation of peoples of all countries to assist and support national activities in favour of the Appeal;

Decides that the proceeds of the collections in each country shall he for the benefit of the Uuited Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, and that the name United Nations Appeal for ChilJren shall he used only in national campaigns which are conducted for this purpose, suliject to the provisions of resolution 92 (1)1 of . the General Assembly governing the use of the United Nations name au.d abbreviations of that name; Fonds et que ce~ins d'entre eux ont deja fourni une seconde contribution; pour les Gouvernements de fournir rapidement leur contribution en vue de permettre l'achat des fournitures necessaires pour poursuivre l'reuvre du Fonds en 19b 9, et, d'une maniere lesquels le Fonds a ete cree.
