Having considered the chapters of the reports of the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the f111plcmentation of the Declaration on the Granting of fndepenclence to Colonial Countries and Peoples relating to British Guiana,2~ Rccal!i~.r; its resolutions 1514 (XV) of 14 December 1960, 1654 (XVI) of 27 November 1%1, 1810 (XVII) of 17 Dew11ber 1962 and 195S (XVIII) and 1956 ( XV ITT) of 11 December 1963.

Noting that British Guiana will achieve independence on 2(> May 1966,

Desirous of ensuring that British Guiana achieves independence under the most favourable conditions,

Apprm1es the chapters of the reports of the Special Committee on the Situation with regard to the Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Tnclependence to ( 'olonial Countries and Peoples relating- to llritish Guiana, and endorses the conclusions and reco111111end:itions contained therein;

Rea.{/irms the inalienable right of the people of lhitish Guiana hi freedom and independence in accordance with the provisions of Crneral Assembly resolution 1S14 (XV);

Requests the administering Power to end the state of emergency and to release all political prisoners and detainees so as to enable them to participate in the political life of the Territory;

Aptra!s to the main political parties to resolve existing differences so as to enable the Territory to achieve independl'nce in an atmosphere of peace and nnity;

N otcs the announcement by the Goverm'nent of the United Kingdom of G1·eat Britain and Northern Ireland that British Guiana will attain independence on 26 l\fay 1966 and requests the administering Power not to take any action which might delay the independence of the Territory.
