Notes that the Governments of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Tanganyika have agreed that Tanganyika should become independent on 28 December 1961;

Resolves, in agreement with the Administering Authority, that the Trusteeship Agreement for Tanganyika, approved by the Ceneral Assembly on 13 December 1946, shall cease to be in force upon the accession of Tanganyika to independence on 28 December 1961;

Recommends that, upon the attainment of its indepenclence on 28 December 1961, Tanganyika shall he admitted to membership in the United Nations in accordance with Article 4 of the Charter of the United Nations:

Reqursts the Administering Authority to present to the Trusteeship Council, at its twenty-seventh session to be held in the :-;ummer of 1961, further information on the constitutional conference held at Dar es Salaam in March 1961 and on the measures already taken or planned by the Administering Authority to ensure the transfer of power:; to the legislative and executive organs of Tanganyika.
