Welcomes the progress made by Governments in the establishment and strengthening of regional and subregional organizations working in the field of human rights, and their achievements in all regions of the world;

Notes with appreciation the critical role played by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in advancing cooperation between international organizations and regional organizations in all their variety and at all their levels of formalization, working in the field of human rights;

Also notes with appreciation the progress made towards the implementation of its resolution 52/15 as described in the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and encourages regional organizations to continue to enhance their cooperation with the United Nations and among themselves;

Welcomes the report of the High Commissioner on the triennial workshop on regional organizations for the promotion and protection of human rights, held on 29 and 30 September 2025 in Geneva;

Also welcomes the holding of the annual meetings of focal points for cooperation between United Nations and regional human rights organizations, and takes note with appreciation of their outcomes, and requests that these meetings henceforth be held virtually, with one in-person meeting convened to coincide with the triennial workshop;

Further welcomes the dedicated fellowship programme for the staff members of regional human rights organizations to gain experience in the United Nations human rights system and to enhance capacity-building and cooperation among them, with due regard to equitable geographical representation and gender balance;

Requeststhe Secretary-General and the High Commissioner to provide the resources necessary to enable the Office of the High Commissioner to support the above-mentioned activities appropriately, in particular the annual meetings of the regional organizations’ focal points for cooperation and the dedicated fellowship programme;

Also requeststhe High Commissioner to hold in 2028 a workshop on regional and subregional human rights organizations to take stock of developments since the workshop held in 2025, including a thematic discussion on the role of regional organizations in promoting the realization of human rights and preventing and addressing human rights violations and abuses in the digital space, based on concrete and practical experience of regional organizations working in the field of human rights, in order to share information on best practices, lessons learned and possible new forms of cooperation, with the participation of relevant experts from international, regional, subregional and interregional human rights organizations, as well as Member States, observers, national human rights institutions and non-governmental organizations;

Further requeststhe High Commissioner to present to the Human Rights Council, at its seventieth session, a report containing a summary of the discussions held at the above-mentioned workshop and the progress made towards the implementation of the present resolution.
