At its 41st plenary meeting, on 28 November 2018, the General Assembly, pursuant to article 3 of the statute of the United Nations Appeals Tribunal, contained in annex II to resolution 63/253 of 24 December 2008, and on the recommendation of the Internal Justice Council,11 appointed Mr. Graeme Colgan (New Zealand), Mr. Jean-François Neven (Belgium) and Ms. Kanwaldeep Sandhu (Canada) as judges of the Tribunal for a term of office beginning on 1 July 2019 and expiring on 30 June 2026 to fill one vacancy occurring as a result of the resignation of Ms. Rosalyn M. Chapman on 3 November 2017 and two vacancies occurring on the expiration of the terms of office of Mr. Richard Lussick and Ms. Deborah Thomas-Felix.

As a result, as of 1 July 2019, the United Nations Appeals Tribunal is composed as follows: Mr. Graeme COLGAN (New Zealand),** Ms. Martha HALFELD FURTADO DE MENDONÇA SCHMIDT (Brazil),* Ms. Sabine KNIERIM (Germany),* Mr. John Raymond MURPHY (South Africa),* Mr. Jean-François NEVEN (Belgium),** Mr. Dimitrios RAIKOS (Greece)* and Ms. Kanwaldeep SANDHU (Canada).** ___________________ * Term of office expires on 30 June 2023. ** Term of office expires on 30 June 2026.
