At its 39th plenary meeting, on 24 October 2011, the General Assembly, in accordance with rule 140 of the rules of procedure of the Assembly, elected BULGARIA, the NETHERLANDS and SWITZERLAND as members of the Economic and Social Council for the remainder of the terms of office of HUNGARY,BELGIUM andNORWAY,1 respectively, beginning on 1 January 2012.

At the same meeting, the General Assembly, in accordance with Article 61 of the Charter of the United Nations and rule 145 of the rules of procedure of the Assembly, elected BELARUS,

members of the Economic and Social Council for a three-year term of office beginning on 1 January 2012 to fill the vacancies occurring on the expiration of the terms of office of CÔTE

As a result, the Economic and Social Council is composed of the following fifty-four

FINLAND,** FRANCE,*** GABON,** GERMANY,*** GHANA,* INDIA,***
