At its 86th plenary meeting, on 10 June 2009, the General Assembly, in accordance with Article 21 of the Charter of the United Nations, rule 30 of the rules of procedure of the Assembly and paragraph 1 of the annex to resolution 33/138 of 19 December 1978, elected by acclamation Mr. Ali Abdussalam TREKI of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya as President of the General Assembly at its sixty-fourth session.
