At its 23rd plenary meeting, on 9 October 2008, the General Assembly decided to endorse the recommendation of the Secretary-General1 which was endorsed by the Security Council in its resolution 1837 (2008) of 29 September 2008 that:

(a) The term of office of the following permanent judges at the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia since 1991 who were members of the Appeals Chamber be extended until 31 December 2010, or until the completion of the cases before the Appeals Chamber if sooner:
