At its 54th plenary meeting, on 16 November 2006, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the Fifth Committee,6 confirmed the appointment by the Secretary-General of the following persons as members of the Investments Committee for a three-year term of office beginning on 1 January 2007: Mr. Emilio J. Cárdenas, Mr. Fernando G. Chico Pardo and Mr. Khaya Ngqula.

As a result, the Investments Committee is composed as follows: Mr. Masakazu ARIKAWA (Japan),** Mr. Emilio J. CÁRDENAS (Argentina),*** Mr. Fernando G. CHICO PARDO (Mexico),*** Mr. Madhav DHAR (India),** Mr. Nemir A. KIRDAR (Iraq),** Mr. William J. MCDONOUGH (United States of America),* Mr. Khaya NGQULA (South Africa),*** Ms. Hélène PLOIX (France)* and Mr. Jürgen REIMNITZ (Germany).* At the same meeting, the General Assembly, also on the recommendation of the Fifth Committee,6 reappointed Ms. Afsaneh BESCHLOSS (Islamic Republic of Iran) and Mr. Ivan PICTET (Switzerland) as ad hoc members for a one-year term of office beginning on 1 January 2007. _________________ * Term of office expires on 31 December 2007. ** Term of office expires on 31 December 2008. *** Term of office expires on 31 December 2009.
