At its 78th plenary meeting, on 20 December 2002, the General Assembly, on the recommendation of the Second Committee:55

(a) Took note of the report of the Secretary-General on pledging mechanisms to fund operational activities for development of the United Nations system;56

(b) Decided to further review, at its fifty-ninth session, in the context of the triennial comprehensive policy review of operational activities, the pledging mechanisms and resource mobilization for operational activities for development of the United Nations system.
